His shy and quiet personality makes him stick out on this tour and Holden is very aware that he doesn't fit in. He has never really fit in, and his confidence is extremely shaken. Friendships with Holden are not hard, since he is normally polite to people's faces. He will smile and talk nice to anyone really. But to get him to trust you, you have to be a certain type of person. Hold likes people who are willing to just sit and have an intelligent conversation, who don't drag drama around behind them, and who aren't loud. Being his friend if you are constantly drunk or high doesn't really work out because he just doesn't have respect for them. Enemies for Holden are hard to make because he will never really let anyone know if he dislikes them. He just keeps that information to himself and lets everyone think he's fine. You can get Holden to yell, and fight but it's takes a lot. Romantically, Holden is as picky as they come and doesn't really mess around or go on aimless dates. He's waiting for a real relationship, and someone who is just as tame as he is. However it's very hard for the boy because he has absolutely no self esteem and doesn't think anyone actually wants to talk to him.
